Case Study: The first ISO 14001-certified museums in Scandinavia

"The environment is one of the most significant global issues. We can make a contribution by setting a good example." Robert Olsson, Managing Director of the Swedish National Maritime Museums

The Challenge
The Swedish National Maritime Museums - a group of three museums in Sweden - attract a large international crowd, with over one million visitors each year. Between the museums' offices, workshops, restaurants, and boats, it took many years of hard work for them to reduce their negative impact on the environment. They wanted to demonstrate this commitment to their visitors.

The Solution
The three museums together became the first museums in Scandinavia to be certified to ISO 14001:2004. They chose Intertek as their certification body. With the help of Intertek's services, they are assured that their environmental management systems are efficient and continuously improving.
