Intertek provides advanced metals speciation analysis. Metals speciation testing provides clients with precise analysis of metal species such as mercury, arsenic, sulphur and lead in crude oil, chemicals and many other products, as well as aqueous samples such as seawater.

Metal Speciation testing includes use of Gas Chromatography - Inductively Coupled Plasma Spectroscopy - Mass Spectrometry (GC-ICP-MS) and Liquid Chromatography -  Inductively Coupled Plasma Spectroscopy - Mass Spectrometry (HPLC-ICP-MS), with the capability to measure metal species to ultra-trace levels. Metal species analysis helps to determine not only the total metals concentration of a particular product but also the molecular form or species that the metal is present in. Different metal species have different health and safety or environmental impacts and so an accurate assessment is vital for client decision making processes.
