Join us at the 2019 Flexible Generation Symposium

November 28, 2018

Changing market conditions system deregulation, increasing renewable energy, distributed generation, and evolving demand have all led to increased demand for flexible generation of power plants. As more renewable energy sources are added to the electricity grid, fossil, nuclear, and hydro power plants must operate with greater flexibility, or ‘cycling’.  Increased cycling not only contributes to more forced outages, lower fuel efficiency, and potential diminished unit life as equipment operates beyond its design capabilities, but it also increases the risk of asset failure, costs for operations and maintenance, and capital replacement spend.

Intertek Engineering Consulting (previously APTECH Engineering) has been studying power plant cycling since 1979 and has been an industry leader in determining the impact of flexible generation on equipment life and the cost of.

Intertek subject matter experts, and industry experts are going to share their knowledge and experience at the Flexible Generation Symposium that will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana May 6 - 8, 2019 at the Renaissance New Orleans Pere Marquette Hotel.

Meeting Highlights
There will be presentations from industry and Intertek experts. Several of Intertek’s technical papers  have been published and cited in renowned journals and publications.

Round table discussions covering several topics including:

  • Power plant component damage mechanisms and failure
  • Component/unit reliability modelling
  • Component aging and impact of fatigue cycling on aging components
  • Capital and O&M accounting and how to associate costs to cycling damage and unit reliability
  • Retrofits and countermeasures to mitigate cycling costs.
  • Global trends of renewables, energy market changes, and plant technology evolution
  • Energy storage, technology assessments, and life management of battery assets

Who should attend this meeting?
Anyone who wants to learn more about flexible generation; industry trends, technology, equipment and portfolio management issues, energy market challenges and opportunities, with case studies from the U.S. and around the world.

Registration cost is $500 per person. Deadline to register is May 3rd, 2019.
