As of August 11, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published, in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), the three rules that create the framework for the general chemical evaluation process; the Inventory Reset Rule, the Prioritization Rule and the Risk Evaluation Rule. These rules were required under by the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act to update TSCA. These framework rules offer clearer guidance to manufacturers on how chemicals will be prioritized and evaluated under the amendment.
