Safety Requirements for Children’s Clothing Sold in Europe
As a rule, consumer products intended for use by infants and children come with their own unique set of stringent safety requirements, to address and mitigate both physical and chemical hazards. This is especially true of children’s clothing, which can present inherent risks to the wearer.
Recently, CEN (the European standardisation body) has published four new documents – three test methods and one specification – for the safety of children’s clothing that address the security of attached components. (Refer to our Insights Vol. 1221) The newly published test methods and specification will replace the test methods and requirements that were originally included in the under-revision CEN/TR 16792.
