Intertek, a leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide, has signed a new contract with the Agence des Normes et de la Qualité (ANOR) in Cameroon Central Africa to support its new Conformity Assessment Programme (PECAE) in providing certification service to exporters to Cameroon.

The Conformity Assessment programme verifies the conformity of products on the regulated product list which includes; health and beauty products, all processed and non-processed food products, construction materials, refined petroleum products, gas cylinders and paper products in the respective exporting countries.

This ensures that they comply with applicable national, regional or international standards and technical regulations, protecting the health, safety and environment of Cameroon’s citizens from substandard imported goods and giving them the assurance they need in their local market. This programme will be mandatory for all goods shipped to Cameroon after 31st August 2016.

Importers in Cameroon are required to provide the Attestation of Conformity (AoC) for Customs clearance and this will be compulsory. This certificate can only be obtained via an approved inspection body such as Intertek, who issue the “Attestation de Conformitée” that serves as the basis for the final Certificate of Conformity issued by ANOR.

Ian Galloway, Executive Vice President Middle East, Africa & Global Trade said: “We are delighted to be working with ANOR, supporting them with the implementation of this crucial programme and participating in providing quality assurance to the lives of Cameroon’s consumers. Having introduced the very first conformity assessment programme over 20 years ago, Intertek has the required experience and expertise to provide the authorities with this technical service, and exporters to Cameroon with rapid and excellent certification, inspection and testing services.”

Intertek’s global services network, located in over 100 nations, supports this programme, helping the ANOR to ensure products imported from around the world are delivered in good order to the people of Cameroon.
