Sydney, Australia - Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, has successfully completed inspection services on line pipe procured for the Northern Gas Pipeline (NGP) Project.
The 622km pipeline will link Tennant Creek in the Territory with Mount Isa in Queensland, unlocking the next phase of economic growth for the Northern Territory and helping build a stronger Northern Australia. Intertek successfully supported Jemena’s procurement of the line pipe by providing critical expertise at the point of fabrication as well as deploying a team of quality inspectors to oversee manufacture of the pipework that comprised quality of welding, steel composition, compliance with Australian standards, and adherence to engineering specifications.
Intertek provided quality assurance leadership and expert technical services that helped Jemena ensure the safe and successful completion of this significant project. Jemena owns and operates a diverse portfolio of energy and water transportation assets across the east coast of Australia and was selected to own and operate the Northern Gas Pipeline. Construction of the AU$800 million project began in July 2017, and first gas is scheduled to flow in late 2018.
“We have been very excited to partner with Jemena and help mitigate their risk in this significant project. Our successful inspection of over 30,000 lengths of line pipe has been a testament to our experience in the successful execution of major oil and gas projects,” commented Sheldon Harvey, Intertek’s Business Development Manager for Industry Services Australia. “Intertek’s subject matter experts will continue to provide inspection services to the project during the remaining equipment order deliveries, ensuring key milestones are met and any issues are addressed.”
