Processed Fuel Oil (PFO) Testing
Processed Fuel Oil (PFO) testing in the United Kingdom.
Producers of Processed Fuel Oil (PFO) from waste lubricating oils (or similar) in the United Kingdom must meet product quality standards set by the UK Environment Agency (EA).
To comply with the Processed Fuel Oil Protocol, producers of PFO must analyse PFO for all test parameters specified, and the analysis must be carried out in UKAS accredited laboratories (either in-house or by contract laboratories). Each batch produced must be analysed and meet the standard BS2869:2006. PFOs must comply with maximum acceptable limits for ash content, total halogen and PCBs.
The Intertek Sunbury Technology Centre is a UKAS ISO 17025 accredited laboratory that specialises in hydrocarbon fuels. Intertek's testing service enables PFO producers to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
