Small Wind Turbine Test Facility

Intertek operates an open air test site for small wind turbines in Otisco, NY, USA. The site, together with Intertek’s nearby lab, is the only wind turbine testing facility in North America that is operated by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) capable of providing small wind turbine system and electrical component certifications.

Intertek also works with manufacturers to test at their sites, or on other sites available for public/private wind turbine testing. Intertek’s small wind test center is a Regional Test Center (RTC) in partnership with the Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). In addition to safety, durability and performance testing, the test center provides data to determine product eligibility for government incentive programs.
