Scope: This test method covers standardized techniques for locating air leakage sites in building envelopes and air barrier systems.
Applicable Products: Applicable to air/vapor barriers, weather resistant barriers and air barriers.
Test Procedure: Air leakage detection fluid is applied over the brick tie and seam/lap in the air/vapor barrier (AVB). The chamber is equipped with a centrifugal blower and pressure sensing device to create the specified positive pressure differential inside the chamber. Any sites of air leakage are detected through the visual appearance of bubbles in the detection fluid.
End Result: Upon the completion of a successful test, the product meets the performance criteria for air infiltration resistance or does not meet criteria and further remediation may be required to pass.
