PPE Apparel Testing

Intertek offers comprehensive protective apparel testing to meet your global needs for personal protective equipment (PPE) used in a number of industries, including safety footwear, firefighting, motorcycle and surgical/disposable gloves; apparel like surgical gowns, face masks, high-visibility outerwear and puncture-resistant clothing; eye protection; and shin guards through our testing labs in China, India, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Our PPE testing capabilities include evaluating products related to protection from COVID-19 for compliance with global safety standards, performance features and quality requirements, safety footwear for mechanical risks, slip resistance, thermal risks and ergonomic qualities. Intertek tests PPE gloves for mechanical, thermal, chemical and micro-organism risks. We test football shin guards for ergonomics, sizing, coverage and impact.

Additionally, Intertek conducts testing for properties like high visibility; protection against rain, chemicals and heat; and flame protective clothing for resistance to tearing, bursting, abrasion and flexing (as pre-treatments). Our protective apparel flammability testing measures resistance to radiant heat, contact heat, convective heat and electrostatic risks.

Intertek also performs testing for PPE head, eye and face protection items, including safety goggles and face shields, sunglasses, ski goggles, safety glasses, swimming goggles, swim masks, bicycle helmets (recreational, BMX, mountain biking), skateboarding helmets, recreational snow sport helmets and ice hockey helmets.
